*Oppo Off topic* Anyone Here Play DayZ Standalone?

I picked this game up a few days ago and have been playing it damn near non stop with some friends. Yesterday we literally played for 13 hours (woo snow, no work). I've already died a few times (thats the part that sucks) but I'm currently back to being fully spec'd out.

For those of you who don't know, DayZ Standalone is a game based on the mod called "DayZ" which was based on a military game called Arma2. Its a post apocalyptic survival game where you have to survive against the elements, zombies, and other humans. You travel from town to town picking up supplies so you can survive.

Its currently in alpha mode, which means its not finished.

Curious how many people here play it, it'd be cool as hell to get a gang of opponauts together and go raid some towns and the airbases.

Cars! They actually have communist era accurate Russian vehicles in this game. I hope to see more lada's and UAZ 452's

Silly DayZ standalone. Might as well have left it a part of Arma since they changed pretty much nothing when they made the standalone.

Ever since the mod came out.

Picked up SA, now I'm just wishing they get the zombies fixed in the next update, I hate how they're running through walls and can see you a mile away atm.

Died a few times, geared up with an assault rifle just as many.

My current kick is using a voice changer mod and terrorising the new spawns when they hit the big cities.

If you ever come across someone wielding an axe with a super deep bass voice screaming :

'GONNA GET YOU LITTLE PIGGY!! SQUEEE! SQUEEE! SQUEEEE!'

That's probably me.

It's all online, right? Most of the videos I've seen have been nice people helping, noobs, or asshole campers killing everyone they see.

Won't run on my chromebook. My laptop barely runs XP, hasn't been on in a year. Poop.

Couldn't bring myself to spend the money to test an Alpha for them that wasn't a full stand alone system.

Netcode, Server-Client interaction, zombie AI, item spawning, item creation, gear wear, damage, status effects, the map, the graphics the list goes on.

DayZ is full of dickheads. My friend and I got rushed by some guy in the woods. He headshotted my friend with a mosin, and right when I turned around with my M4, someone came up to me with an axe and took me out in one swing.

Its just the nature of the game. My friend and I were walking along the spawn point coast and helping any "bambi's" that we found. One guy was being a smart ass and raised his fists at my friend (mind you my friend had a M4 and a 45acp). My friend told the guy "Hey easy, I have a friend who has his sights on you, don't do anything dumb." The guy kept cutting in/out for me but all I heard was "If your friend is so good, lets see him hit me...." mind you I am in the bushes RIGHT behind this guy, so I shot him in the head and he went down like a rock. My friend was like "quick, handcuff him before he gets up" I said "why, I just shot him in the head, theres no getting up from that". My friend said " he said to shoot him in the foot!" to which I replied "Oh, I missed that part... oh well, lets get out of here before anyone sees us."

Check out this guys videos, not only are they hilarious (because he walks around DayZ acting like Morgan Freeman), they show you exactly how DayZ is. Not just people helping bambi's.

They aren't even remotely close to finishing the game and its already won multiple awards. I'd say thats pretty good for an unfinished game.

I fucking hate the zombies! My friend who I've been playing with got two of his college buddies to join us (so now we have a gang of 4) and I had to warn them about that. They learned really fast how zombies don't stop for walls, or doors, or fences, or anything.

I have a voice changer in my logitech headset software, as does my friend. I told him we should probably try it. We've walked along the coast fully geared up before calling out to people and they'll stop when they see how decked out we are. My friend ran up behind someone one time and went "FREEZE" and the guy stopped in a second and put his hands up before turning around lol.

thats exactly what my friend wants to do now. He cuffed me once not knowing they tend to glitch and I could never get out. He also didn't have keys. I had no choice but to die.

One day we'll do it.

I would...except i'm on that mac game. I would play it on my downstairs desktop but i'm sorta used to you know, staying in my rom with the door locked.
